Conservative Comedy Rules!

Now, that's funny!

Wow, that was...bad. Not as bad as it could have been, but I didn't laugh once. My wife chuckled slightly once, but that was it. It was like, SNL bad. Oh well. I don't know what I expected from the only comedy show with its own charity.

Steve's tracking the reviews.

Anyway, I gave it a chance. It's not funny. Sorry if that hurts the cause, it is what it is.

UPDATE: JimK loved the show*.

UPDATE II: David Frum: Traitor (H/T: Steve).

*Message for Fox HHNH writers: JimK didn't really love the show - I was being sarcastic. Sorry for any confusion.

Typepad is doing this impossible captha check lately (it's asking automated trackback software to do captcha. Err...) so...umm...

Ping!

I didn't watch it, but every blog I've seen has given it the thumbs down. It may be a little too soon to say it can't work. Look at the pilots some of the better sitcom. Usually shows take a while to work out the kinks. It all comes down to the writing. If they want it to work they better hire better writers.

I haven't seen anything suck that strongly since my last girlfriend. And that was funny.

Is there an SNL good? If so, I haven't seen it in several years - or has it gotten better since Tina Faye left?

Maybe the conservative Fox show just didn't hire the right writers. Cuz you guys, Ace, TNOYF and Iowahawk and other conservative sites are pretty darned funny lots of times. And I don't find liberals funny AT ALL.

I attempted to watch SNL several weeks ago, and had to shut it off after about 20 minutes. It was gawd-awful bad. That group of "comics" isn't even a caricature of what it once was. The jokes are horrible, the impressions of various politicos were way off, there was nothing remotely funny in any of the skits. The FNC show CAN'T be any worse than what NBC is peddling on Saturday night.

I found the show to be okay, but I had a low expectation. With time I think it will evolve/improve. But then again , what the hell do I know?

I'm not saying you were right or anything.

But you may have something on this whole "unfunny" angle.

JimK - Good analysis. I've actually seen comments at other sites saying that it's a good thing that they were explaining the t-shirt jokes. Riiiight.

LargeBill - I've seen sitcoms get better, but I've yet to see one that started out as "unwatchable" and improved enough to be called "good". You're right, though, they would need new and/or more writers to fix this show.

Jenny - No, SNL hasn't gotten better. As it stands, I may or may not TiVo it and run through the show to see if they managed to get a laugh or two. I won't waste my time watching it real-time.

Ken - I'm afraid it is worse than SNL, but that's just my opinion. YMMV.

Swamp Rabbit - maybe it will improve, bit like I said, they need to make some major--MAJOR changes. Like, I don't know, writing funny material.

Gordon - Why do you hate the troops?

Seriously, I really hope they turn this thing completely upside-down and start over, which is what it would take to make it funny. But, something tells me that's not going to happen. Too bad, because there is a market out there, they just don't like having crap pushed on them.

Better conservative comedy:

The America Show, Episode 4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kk0RI47LeE

mediagirl,I'm getting a "Video not available", but if that's the "America Show" with the three or four women on the bare set, I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick - repeatedly - than watch one of those clips.

I think it's safe to say that that Bob Saget has crapped better material.

What really sucks is that there is sooo much to make fun of on the Left. A 60 second montage of Cindy Sheehan comes to mind. No need to create it. It's already there. Just let it speak for itself.
